Plies is an American rapper, born July 1st, 1976, his true name being Algernod Lanier Washington. Plies is not only a rap singer, but also the founder of Big Gates Records. He played football before becoming a rapper, so at the first glance, these two things have almost nothing in common. Plies was passionate about music since he was a kid, but he never gave up on his dream. In a single year, from 2007 to 2008, Plies released three albums, which is a major accomplishment. His debut album was The Real Testament in 2007. His first successful songs were Hypnotyzed and Shawty. In 2008, another two albums of Plies were released, entitled Definition of Real and Da Realist. 2010 was also a good year for the artist as he released Good Affiliated album. All his albums were a huge success and Plies became very famous with lots of fans all around the world. Plies writes his own songs, being inspired by his own life and past experiences. Plies was known for his passion for music even since high school.
Unfortunately, he was involved in scandals. One of them took place in a nightclub, in Florida. He was charged with illegal possession of a weapon. There took place fights, people were shouting and at the end, six shots took place and a few people were injured.
Throughout his career, Plies received many awards and nominations such as Best Rap/R&B Collaboration in 2007, with T-Pain, Ringtone of the Year for Bust It Baby, People's Champ Award in 2008. His music describes gang life, love, scandals, sex, which is typical for a rapper. He had many concerts in many countries and this also brought him a lot of popularity and fame. One of the things that increased his fame were his collaborations with already famous artists such as Nelly, Keysha Cole, J. Holiday, but the list is longer than that.
